Marble stones are ideal for cold stone massages because of their capability to stay colder longer that other stones as well as feeling softer and being less messy than ice. These cold stones can help with increasing muscle tone in addition to decreasing muscle spasms, inflammation, swelling, and pain.

Cooling Your Stones
It takes only 10 – 15 minutes in ice for the marble stones to get cold enough to use. To cool the marble stones, you can place them in a plastic bag and put them in the refrigerator or freezer or you can simply put them in a cooler and add ice or cold water placing them in a towel to keep the stones from hitting the sides or bottom of the cooler reducing the possibility of the stones becoming cracked. Marble is a delicate stone and can break if not treated with care. As with hot stones, use a sheet, towel, or pillowcase to put between the skin and the marble stones. Always keep in mind the comfort level of your client.

Never place the cold stones directly on the skin because the cold marble can burn it.
